Smitty’s Hand Crafted Unfiltered Whiskey: The Spirit of the Block

Some whiskeys are made simply to be sipped. In fact, this one was made to mean something. Chris Smith and Desorae Giles-Smith commissioned Smitty’s Sistrunk Whiskey. This husband-and-wife team runs Smitty’s Wings on historic Sistrunk Boulevard. They created it as a tribute to the heart and soul of Fort Lauderdale’s most storied corridor. In the label’s own words, it was born “out of a love for our people, our history, our hustle.” This hand crafted, unfiltered whiskey celebrates Black excellence and Florida flavor. Timber Creek crafted it exclusively for the heart of Fort Lauderdale’s own Sistrunk Boulevard.

The standard behind the bottle is uncompromising. Also, Smitty’s own charter requires 100% natural limestone spring water and at least 90% Florida-grown grains. The whiskey then barrel-ages under the pressure of Florida’s relentless heat and humidity, a climate that works the spirit deep into the oak year-round. And as the label declares, Smitty’s takes that standard even further.

Aged with Purpose, Distilled in Florida

Smitty’s created this whiskey, and Timber Creek Distilling in Crestview, Florida, distills and bottles it. This grain-to-glass craft distillery in the Florida Panhandle mills, mashes, ferments, distills, and barrels its spirits on site. As a result, this whiskey arrives unfiltered, with everything the barrel gave it intact: full body, full color, full character. Turn the bottle around and you’ll find a band of community faces spelling out SISTRUNK. That’s a reminder that this project is bigger than what’s in the glass.
