Bourbon Blending Kit

Bourbon Blending Kit

Timber Creek, Florida’s fastest growing distillery, developed the whiskey industry’s first and only Bourbon Blending Kit as a direct extension of our grain-to-glass production model. The kit gives whiskey enthusiasts a hands-on way to understand how individual grains and blending decisions shape a finished bourbon-style whiskey. Most people who love bourbon have never had the opportunity to see how grain ratios actually change what ends up in the glass. This kit changes that.

Each grain we use — corn, wheat, rye, and barley — goes through individual milling, mashing, distillation, barreling, and aging on site at Timber Creek Distillery. As a result, the kit contains four 100% single-grain whiskeys rather than a single pre-set mash bill. We then hand-pick and blend selected barrels to demonstrate how those components come together into a balanced bourbon profile. Because we handle each grain separately from start to finish, the differences between them stay clearly defined — and clearly tasteable.

Bourbon Blending Kit — How It Works

Unlike most blending programs that rely on sourced whiskey, this kit builds around separately produced corn, wheat, rye, and barley whiskeys. Small ratio changes in the blend clearly show their effect on body, sweetness, spice, and overall structure. For example, increasing the corn percentage softens and sweetens the profile, while adding more rye pushes it toward spice and dryness. In this way, the kit functions as both an educational tool and a practical introduction to modern American whiskey blending.

Corn contributes natural sweetness and a soft, round body. Wheat adds smoothness and a lighter texture. Rye brings spice, structure, and a drier finish. Barley — the foundation of our Florida Single Malt Whiskey — contributes depth and a distinct malt character. Together, these four grains give you the full range of bourbon flavor building blocks in a single kit.

To understand how each grain contributes before you start blending, see our mash bill guide and separate grain distillation explainer. For additional context on how professional distillers approach blending decisions, our guide to bourbon covers the fundamentals in detail. Furthermore, our whiskey vs bourbon breakdown helps clarify exactly what separates a bourbon from other American whiskeys before you start building your own.

If you’d prefer a guided, hands-on setting, you can also book the Bourbon Blending Experience at the distillery, where we walk you through the same process in person with our team. Similarly, the Florida Black Rye Whiskey included in the kit is also available individually if you want to explore that grain on its own.

“Today, large companies using mass production techniques dominate the bourbon industry. As a result, they don’t produce the same individual high-quality bourbon created by craft distilleries,” said Camden Ford, President of Timber Creek Distillery. “As a craft distillery, Timber Creek can experiment with new techniques and push the boundaries of innovation unlike large scale operations. Timber Creek is at the forefront of the craft spirits industry. We’re leading the way by offering new flavor profiles and new whiskey experiences to customers.”

In conclusion, Timber Creek’s Bourbon Blending Guide walks consumers through the their distinct process. It explains how the different grains contribute to the flavor of each bourbon. And, ultimately showing exactly how to blend the different whiskeys. In addition, the kit also includes a list of mash bills for many popular Bourbon brands. Therefore, connoisseurs can easily replicate the recipes for their favorite bourbon.
