Copper Collar Bourbon
Copper Collar Bourbon: For Those Who Know
Copper Collar Bourbon is a Florida Gulf Coast bourbon inspired by those who work, protect, fight, and explore beneath the sea. It’s dedicated to those who know that world first-hand. In fact, the name is Navy heritage in bottle form. People have long called deep-sea divers “copper collar workers,” after the copper helmets that defined the trade for over a century. Founder Harvey Bane is a retired U.S. Navy Deep Sea Diver who served twenty years, from 1981 to 2001. He dove from tugboats and minesweepers to submarines and aircraft carriers. This small-batch bourbon is his tribute to all who work on and under the sea.
Splice the Main Brace and Think Deep
The whiskey itself carries a quality-assurance officer’s precision. Also, Timber Creek Distillery in Crestview, Florida, distills and ages it from Florida grains and Florida spring water. Copper Collar uses a proprietary grain bill of 60% sweet corn, 20% barley, 10% wheat, and 10% black rye. As a result, this proprietary distilling process produces a whiskey of rare quality and complexity. It ages five years in the Panhandle’s demanding climate. The bourbon comes in at 90 proof. There, the corn’s sweetness, the barley’s depth, and the black rye’s dark spice come together in a rich, balanced pour.
What makes Copper Collar truly rare is who makes it. Retired Navy Divers and their friends and family fill, cork, and label every single bottle by hand. As a result, it is a bourbon of brotherhood as much as craft. The label carries the old Navy toasts “Splice The Main Brace” and “Think Deep.” It also carries the pride of the diving community in every batch. For those who know, nothing needs explaining; for everyone else, one glass tells the story. Learn more at coppercollarspirits.com.
