In fact, the brand takes its name from the aircraft’s legendary GAU-8 cannon. As the back label puts it, the A-10 carries 1,174 rounds of 30mm to protect our friendlies. It’s bold, fierce, and rugged, and the founders hope you find their bourbon the same. The black label carries blueprint-style artwork of the A-10 itself. 30mm was founded by two childhood best friends. Josh flies the A-10C Thunderbolt II for the U.S. Air Force, and Jesse served in elite maritime service. Their mission is simple: make a drink they are proud of, one that honors their heritage and the mighty A-10. So they sought out the best locally sourced grains. Then they partnered with a distillery that shares their values, Timber Creek Distillery in Crestview, Florida, in the heart of Panhandle military country. Timber Creek distills each grain separately using its PureBlend process to extract its most complete flavor before blending. Meanwhile, Crestview’s cool nights and warm summer days push the barrel to breathe harder, for the richest possible taste. Every bottle carries a handwritten batch number.
