About the Rum Punch

Colorful and festive, this Rum Punch combines Timber Creek Florida Rum with orange juice, pineapple juice, and a splash of grenadine for a straightforward tropical drink built for entertaining. It’s the kind of cocktail that scales easily and rarely needs much explanation to a room full of guests. The two juices form a bright, sweet base, orange leaning citrusy, pineapple leaning tropical, while grenadine adds both a touch of extra sweetness and the drink’s signature sunset color as it settles through the glass. None of these ingredients are especially assertive on their own, which means the rum carries more of the actual flavor weight than the name “punch” might suggest.

Timber Creek’s Florida Rum, produced through the distillery’s PureBlend process of distilling grains separately and blending them by component after individual barrel aging, brings a rounded caramel warmth that keeps the punch from tasting like straight fruit juice with alcohol added as an afterthought. To build it, shake the rum with the orange and pineapple juices over ice until well chilled, then strain over a glass of fresh ice. Drizzle the grenadine slowly over the top so it sinks and pools rather than blending in immediately, giving the drink its layered, sunset-colored look. Garnish with a slice of orange or pineapple set on the rim.

This is an easy party drink, jerk chicken and a fresh mango salsa both share the punch’s bright, tropical-sweet character, making them natural pairings for a backyard cookout or island-themed gathering. It also batches well for a crowd, simply multiply the rum and juices and drizzle grenadine into individual glasses as you serve. This punch also works well served from a large pitcher or drink dispenser at a party, garnished communally with a float of sliced oranges and pineapple rather than individual garnishes per glass. If a lighter version is preferred, extending the mix with a splash of soda water keeps the flavors intact while stretching the pour for a longer gathering.

Sweet, fruity punches like this one are easy to underestimate in terms of alcohol content, so keep an eye on how many glasses are poured over the course of an event. Drink responsibly, and only if you are of legal drinking age.
