Timber Creek Distillery Wins The Bourbon and Whiskey Competition

Timber Creek Distillery took home two silver awards in their first-ever North American Bourbon & Whiskey Competition, held on July 16-17 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The craft spirits brand, which is just over two years old, won the silver awards in recognition of their Florida Black Rye Whiskey and Florida Reserve Bourbon. Timber Creek was the only Florida-made spirit to bring home awards at the competition.

The Competition:

The North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition is a double-blind competition based on a 100-point scale. Judges consider the spirits fairly based on styles and price categories. This year, judges tasted more than 75 entries.

The judges for this year’s competition included whiskey connoisseurs Blair Bowman, author of The Pocket Guide to Whiskey. And, Jonathan Odde, founder of The Burns Pub in Broomfield, Colorado.

Other craft spirit brands that received silver awards for their whiskey are Buffalo Trace, Slaughter House, and Ole Smoky.

Timber Creek Distillery:

The Crestview-based craft distillery has made its mark on the Florida spirits industry by establishing their definition for Florida whiskey. Their standard requires the use of local ingredients including Florida limestone spring water and 90% locally-grown Florida grains. Additionally, the whiskeys must be aged in the Florida heat and humidity and unfiltered to let the true flavor of Florida shine.

“We’re thrilled with the results of our first competition,” said Timber Creek Distillery co-founder, Camden Ford. “We take pride in representing the state of Florida by utilizing local ingredients and hope to continue bringing more unique flavors and products to the Florida craft distilling scene.”
